This Vintage Lobster Trap Wood Cage has its origins traced back to Cape Cod in 1810. Typically, wood cage hoops are crafted from branches of spruce, hemlock, or hardwood saplings like maple, birch, or ash. Metal traps, which became popular two decades ago, offer a lighter and more saltwater-resistant option. Additionally, they stack on top of each other with greater efficiency.
Since wood cages are not used as often anymore this item would be a collector’s piece and a perfect addition to a restaurant or bar with a nautical theme.
