Solid Brass Fan Anemometer and Wind Vane Sensor

This Brass Fan Anemometer Wind Vane brings a distinctive piece of working maritime equipment ashore. Dating to October 1992, this instrument once served aboard a vessel to sense wind speed and direction. Its large brass vane and five-blade aluminum propeller immediately give it the look of serious shipboard equipment.

The original identification plate adds another interesting detail. It identifies the instrument as Model N-162 D and lists a 2–10–60 m/s range and 12V DC rating. Additionally, the plate identifies Bergen, Norway. The propeller still spins freely, while the upper assembly turns with some resistance.

Years at sea have also left plenty of character behind. The brass carries natural patina along with dents, scratches, and surface marks. Rather than hiding its history, these details help tell the story of its former shipboard service. We have not tested its electrical or measuring functions, so we cannot confirm its working condition.
