We discovered Item P4-07TA at an antiques show – it’s a small brass tide clock that also doubles as a traditional clock. It’s powered by a simple AA battery, and to access the battery compartment, all you need to do is release the two dogs and lift open the clock face.

Tide clocks are fascinating nautical instruments that accurately track the local tides. You can use a website to help set the tide clock to your specific location. However, it’s important to check that the tides in your area follow a regular cycle, with a high tide every 12 hours and 25 minutes or so. For a quick reference, you can consult the red areas on a map to see if your area is suitable for a tide clock.
