This Red and Black cowling vent was on boats as a way to get smoke out of the engine room and off the ship. The curved edge helps prevent wind from blowing the smoke back down through the vent. This vintage nautical cowling vent is made out of brass. It measures about 37.5 inches tall. The opening of the vent measures 10.5″ wide and 12″ tall. The tube itself measures 6.5″ in diameter. The mounting base of this vent measures 10″ in diameter with 4 mounting holes. This vent weighs almost 13.4 pounds.
It has surface wear and many layers of paint. We have not made any repairs to this piece – it is being sold as found.
Big Ship Salvage scours the world for nautical antique lights, décor and other items related to the Nautical Life. Brass, copper, stainless steel and sometimes aluminum materials are used to make-up the vintage lights that we find. We soda-blast the old paint off, remove the old wiring and polish before they arrive in our warehouse. Then, we rewire with UL listed bulb sockets and wiring harnesses and get ready for purchase. They are now ready to warm your home, business or restaurant with that nautical feeling we all desire.
