Wow – check out this Vintage Cowl Vent Dorade Box! These are really interesting pieces of nautical history. A dorade box is a type of vent that permits the passage of air in and out of the cabin or engine room of a boat while keeping rain, spray, and sea wash out (Wikipedia).
“Chris” is written in white paint on the side of the box – possibly indicating that it was used on a chris craft vessel.
