This is a pair of Heavy Weight Diving Shoes with Leather Uppers. The weighted sole is bolted to a wooden insole. Lead was the most common sole used. A pair could easily weigh as much as 40 lbs. The divers could not see anything underwater so they often dragged their feet on the bottom of the surface. So to prevent their toes from getting scraped up they capped the shoes usually with brass. This shoe was first introduced in WWI
This pair is one of the heavier ones made!
