This is a salvaged Brass and Aluminum Vane Anemometer with a gray body that was once used on a vessel. It is a type of vane anemometer that uses a propeller and a tail on the same axis to measure wind speed and direction accurately and precisely with a single instrument.

Both the vane anemometer and its propeller can rotate freely. The grayish color of the anemometer body can be seen in the attached photos, with white paint splatters also visible on the tail and body.
