This is a vintage stainless steel Yanagi aneroid barometer. This is a fascinating piece. Barometers are used to measure slight changes in air pressure, which helps with predicting the weather. The aneroid barometer was invented in 1844 by Lucien Vidi, a French scientist. It is special in the sense that it does not involve liquid instead a small, flexible metal box called an aneroid cell.
This piece would make a great addition to your nautical themed room or collection of nautical pieces
