Once mounted on a ship, this Brass Auxiliary Spring Gauge is now beautifully mounted on a piece of wood for residential/commercial presentation. This gauge was manufactured in New York by The Ashcroft MFG. Co.
The Ashcroft MFG. Co. dates back to 1852 when Edward H. Ashcroft bought the rights to a French pressure gauge design to revolutionize the pressure gauges for steam engines. The invention of a pressure gauge that could monitor high pressure decreased the number of steam engine accidents.
There is a slight crack on the inside of the glass (shown in photos)
This is a very versatile item. It will be of interest to a broad range of designers – Steam Punk to nautical design in mind.
