This is a Blower Air Bronze Tube Duragauge by Ashcroft USA. The Ashcroft MFG. Co. dates back to 1852 when Edward H. Ashcroft bought the rights to a French pressure gauge design to revolutionize the pressure gauges for steam engines. The invention of a pressure gauge that could monitor high pressure decreased the number of steam engine accidents.
The gauge is made of bronze and cast iron. The dial face reads and reads up to 15. It has several markings on the face: Blower Air 1/8 Lb. Subd. – Duraguage – 1850 Ashcroft U.S.A. – Patent Dates Inside – Bronze Tube Duragauge. The Bronze ring around the front is 6.25 in diameter. The glass on the top of the dial has a few nicks and measures about 4 inches wide. The base measures about 4.5 inches wide. it is 2.75 inches high and about 4 inches with the valve stem. The bronze valve stem measures about 1.5 inches. It weighs 4.8 Pounds.
