This is a vintage 5 inch box compass made by Polaris. I would date this historical piece to
the very early 1900's. The box measures 7 3/4 X 7 3/4 and is 5 1/2
inches tall. The gimbal ring is 6 inches wide
and the compass is 5 1/2 inches wide. The gimbal ring and compass are
made of brass. The compass does not have any liquid. It may have
originally been a dry compass, but I tend to think just no longer holds
liquid. The compass is functional. The compass
card is readable and shows no real issues. The wood box has lots of wear
and has a few older repairs. Between the wear and the repairs on the
box, it has that great historical look that I really like! This compass has wear and I have not made any effort
to restore or clean it. $160.00 plus shipping Item #P2-03

This is a WWII Marching Compass made
by T.G. CO. LTD. The housing is bakelite and measures 2 1/2 X 2 1/2
inches when closed. The compass points north, so I would say it is
functional, but I would not really try to navigate the world with it.

For those of you that like the finer things in life, here
is an original 1942 Mark 7 WWII Lionel Binnacle. This has been a three
year project here in the shop that today looks almost just like it did
the day we unloaded it from the truck. It needs the compass and front
glass, and then a little cleaning. I have enjoyed it just sitting in the
shop the way it is, and perhaps you will to.
We can ship this great historical piece, but due to the
300+ pounds of brass that it is made of, it will be a common carrier
project or local pickup.
The binnacle stands 57 inches tall, and at the widest point
it measures 33 inches wide.
The small plate you see below the window opening is the
original 1942 Lionel Company makers' plate with the Mark 7
identification.

not counting the three mounting legs. Not sure of the history on this
unit, but we have spotted this same style compass on many tug boats.
This compass can be made to shine, or you can leave it with the slightly
weather look.

marked "Nippon Zosenkikai CO LTD Tokyo". This engine telegraph stands 43
inches tall. It has twin dials that measure 14 inches wide. The top head
section of this unit is 17 inches thick. The base is about 15 inches
wide with 6 mount holes. This is an
electric telegraph and if you can figure out the wiring the dial do
light, and they have electric bells for changing commands. I have never
re-wired one of these telegraphs, but several of my buyers have had
success in sorting out the wiring.
The base unbolts from the top, so
we can ship this with no problem but we need a business address due to
the weight of packed weight of the two sections.
